Welcome to New Brunswick Middle School

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at New Brunswick Middle School.  New Brunswick Middle School is an exciting place to be a middle school student thanks to the many school and community-based programs that are offered. All students take required courses and they choose electives from such classes as:Google Education, Dance Academy, Graphic Design, Animation, and Instrumental Music to name a few.

Our community partners offer many exciting after-school programs; such as Ladies of Vision, Robotics Club, Nature to Nurture, and After-School Tutoring. The Middle School has a wide athletic program including Fall, Winter, and Spring sports. Students can participate in basketball, track, tennis, football, soccer, volleyball, softball, wrestling, and cheerleading.

NBMS has a student exchange program through Sister Cities of New Brunswick with Fukui, Japan. Last year we had two student groups visit the school and community from Japan and this year six of our students will travel to Japan for their visit.

Character Education is an integral part of New Brunswick Middle School. All students begin the day with a Life, College Career Advisory (LCCA) class where students discuss and learn about how to be productive global citizens.  The LCCA program was featured on the TV program Classroom Close-up. Educational dignitaries from the Singapore Education Department visited the Middle School to learn about the program. We are recognized as a School of Promising Practice for this program.

Students receive their classes from fully-certified dedicated and enthusiastic teachers in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology, Fine Visual & Performing Arts, Health & Physical Education, and World Language. There are Honor courses for most content areas. Students who need extra assistance have Basic Skills classes and support. The school has a comprehensive bilingual program for all levels of English Language Learners.

NJ Trax Survey

The New Brunswick Public Schools is using the NJTRAx Digital Learning tool to assess readiness and implementation.

Sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Education, this Digital Learning Readiness Assessment is a school version of the District Readiness Assessment used at the White House Future Ready Summits. Grounded in a key set of indicators for effective implementation of digital learning, six surveys will be used to collect data from six different stakeholder groups. Those six include: students, parents/guardians, teachers, school administrators, information technology coordinators, and educational technology coordinators. Once the data are collected, a customized report for the school will be generated with its readiness ratings for digital learning and comparisons of perspectives across the survey respondent groups.
